Consultation has concluded
The proposed new residential community sits within the heart of Glen Iris. It is important that any new development reflects the quality streetscapes and beautiful homes that surround the site, and the aspirations of adjacent residents.
While there is a clear vision – for a residential development that delivers premium housing options while retaining mature trees and creating leafy streetscapes and parklands – input from the local community has always been a vital part of the process.
You will see from the infographic below that creating a master-planned community involves a range of reports from subject matter experts – from hydrologists to environmental scientists, civil engineers to traffic consultants, town planners to urban designers.
However, no one knows Glen Iris as a place to live better than the people who already live there.
That is why the project team also sought input from local residents through a program of engagement and consultation.

Precinct Reference Group - Workshop #3

Following the establishment of the Reference Group’s key topics in Workshop #1 and then exploring what these meant to the group in Workshop #2, the opportunity in Workshop #3 was for the group to mark-up plans of the site addressing the key topics including traffic access, interface buffers, open space and the possibility of café / shops.

It was advised during this workshop that it is our aim to reconvene the Reference Group in late February 2021, once the project team has had time to develop a high level concept plan based on inputs from the Reference Group, other community feedback and the expert consultant reports.
Thank you to the precinct reference group members that have dedicated their time to this process over the past 3 months.

The sessions provided the opportunity for community members to have more in depth discussions around the five key topics that were identified during the first workshop in September. Specialist consultants including traffic engineers, an urban designer, a town planner, a landscape architect, an environmental scientist, and civil engineers were in attendance.
The workshop has provided the Project team with a range of ideas and concepts to consider as part of the overall planning of the future Glen Iris Estate. A summary of the workshop outcomes can be found here.

The aim of the PRGs was to work with the project team and consultants who are planning the new residential community to explore a range of topics including parks and shared spaces, lot sizes, streetscapes, traffic and connectivity.
The Terms of Reference for the Precinct Reference Group can be found here.
It was initially intended to run three groups – one for the southern section, one for the central section, and one for the northern section of Glen Iris.
Due to lower than anticipated interest in participating in the groups, it was decided to have one group with 30 members.
Over a series of workshops, the group will:
– identify the top five topics the group wishes to address with the project team
– workshop the top five topics with specialists consultants (eg urban designer, environmental scientist, traffic engineer) to identify opportunities, constraints and solutions
– review the additional work done by the specialist consultants and work through options for incorporating into the draft Masterplan.

The aim of the survey was to help the team understand what the community values about living in Glen Iris.
The survey was available to complete online, and was also letterbox dropped to every household within Glen Iris. The summary of the survey results (below) was prepared by Metrix Consulting.
